Session Three Session
Four
SESSION ONE - CICS Transaction Server 1.3 - An Overview
Come hear all about CICS Transaction Server V1R3 and how it enables you
to
enter the 21st Century with your existing applications able to run
in the
new e-business environment using Java and Objects. For traditional
CICS applications,
come hear how CICS provides enhanced Parallel Sysplex support with
Data Tables, Enqueues
and Named Counter Servers. And, there's a evolution of the
pseudo conversational programming model into CICS Business Transaction
Services.
SESSION TWO - CICS - The next release
The next release of CICS will provide an environment in which Enterprise
Java Beans can execute. EJBs bring the power of component based
programming to the
enterprise server environment. They allow programmers to build scalable
applications from off-the-shelf components while hiding the complexities
of security,
transactions and distributed computing.
The Speaker: Leigh Y. Compton
Leigh is a consulting IT specialist in the IBM Dallas Systems Center.
With
a background in systems programming, industrial engineering,
and
education, Leigh provides technical support on CICS products to customers
and IBMers.
She is a frequent presenter at the CICS Technical Conference and CICS
user
groups around the US.
Leigh has been associated with information processing and CICS for more
than 20 years. She joined IBM in 1984 as a Systems Engineer assigned
to a
large manufacturing customer. Prior to coming to IBM, Leigh was
the lead systems
programmer and systems programming manager at the Florida Department
of
Labor.
SESSION THREE (3) - Introduction to WebSphere
WebSphere is a family of products supporting a variety of popular eBusiness
scenarios including web serving with dynamic content, support for new
object oriented
transactional business models, and the integration of existing CICS
and IMS transactional
assets. The WebSphere technology is available for many popular
server platforms
including Windows/NT, AIX, OS/390, Solaris, HP/UX and Linux. It is
supported by
popular development tools including Web Studio, VisualAge for Java,
Rational Rose
and the Tivoli management suite.
This session will explore the WebSphere technology including it's support
for the Enterprise Java programming model and a robust runtime architecture
providing the qualities of service necessary for scale, security and
availability in a
eBusiness setting.
The runtime architecture for OS/390 and Linux for S/390 will be described
in detail along with a perspective on where this technology is heading
over the next
few months.
The Speaker: Carl Wohlers
Carl is a Consulting I/T Specialist with the IBM WebSphere for
OS/390 Technical Marketing Support organization. He has been with IBM
for twenty-four years
including eleven years with System/390 Software Marketing focused on
distributed and
client/server computing. During the last five years he has focused
on object technology
for OS/390.
He received an M.S. in Operations Research from the Georgia Institute
for
Technology and a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Hawaii.
SESSION FOUR (4) - S/390 Security and the Web
Mike will discuss what makes the S/390 the most secure server platform
and
will highlight some recent security features in OS/390 V2R10.
The Speaker: Mike Kearney
Mike is a S/390 Security Specialist with IBM's Washington Systems
Center. He has been focusing on security topics since 1990 and
became a
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in
1997. He teaches the
Web Security Workshop, a free seminar on S/390 web security, at the
Washington
Systems Center in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
